Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation Board of Directors, it is a great pleasure to announce that Terra Cole Brown has been appointed the organization’s new Executive Director. A robust public search was conducted with support from Carlson Beck.
Terra brings more than 14 years of experience in nonprofit management, education and government. Most recently the Executive Director of the San Leandro Education Foundation, Terra’s expertise lies in building sustainable programs, executing complex projects and coordinating multiple civic stakeholders to achieve community goals.
Terra embodies the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation’s core values; she is a collaborative leader dedicated to social and environmental justice. Serving as a project lead and public engagement consultant in public research, infrastructure planning and community-based organizations enables her to translate public policy into organizational strategy. Having secured over $500,000 in government and private sector grants, Terra keenly understands how fundraising drives program development. Terra has a track record of translating strategic goals into programmatic realities in alignment with an organization’s mission and vision.
As Executive Director, Terra will work with our committed Board of Directors, staff, city officials, community partners and donors to strengthen our organization’s role as an integral part of Oakland’s civic fabric and an effective advocate for parks. In collaboration with our government, community and philanthropic stakeholders, she will create public-private partnerships that support equitable access to parks and recreational opportunities citywide.
Please join me in welcoming Terra to her new role. The Board of Directors is deeply committed to working with Terra to ensure her successful and visionary leadership as the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation enters its next chapter.
With warm regards,
Mandolin Kadera-Redmond
Board President
I am interested in having Terra Cole Brown speak to a group of about 20 women who live on the shores of Lake Merritt and are interested in her vision for Oakland’s parks and how we can best support her and them. We have a monthly meeting on the second Monday of every month at 7PM. We can do it on Zoom or in person here. Can you tell me how to contact her directly?
Appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks for your note, Penny. You can contact Terra directly at terra@oaklandparks.org. Cheers!
