Ready to Build

We begin 2021 balancing an urgency to restore our communities and renew our connections with present public health conditions requiring patience. We raise our sights toward a road to recovery.

The Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation also awaits a transition. We will soon be lifted by a new Executive Director after 10 years of Ken Lupoff’s terrific leadership, but must first conduct a thorough search process.

Amidst change, the essential importance of parks to our city’s civic life and our mission to promote equitable parks access for all Oaklanders remain constants. Together, our voices elevate this important work.

Thanks to you, our community of support is strong. More than 225 of you contributed during our year end fundraising campaign, doubling our 2019 results and ensuring our programs continue without disruption.

In addition to serving as Board President, I am excited to step into the role of Interim Executive Director to provide continuity and leadership for our staff, community partners and program sponsors.

Our door remains open. Please continue working with our team as you are accustomed and contact me with any questions, comments or concerns at mandolin@oaklandparks.org or at (510) 465-1850.

Let’s dig in and build toward a better future in 2021.

Warmly,

Mandolin Kadera-Redmond

Interim Executive Director
Board President
