Situated on land originally owned by John P. Maxwell (of Maxwell Hardware), the Maxwell Park neighborhood took shape during the 1920s. The neighborhood’s namesake community park sits just around the corner from where martial arts icon Bruce Lee once had a studio. Warm and inviting, Maxwell Park is a cozy refuge that’s an ideal space for toddlers and their caregivers, seniors and community volunteers to gather under beautiful palm trees. It’s a gem of a park.
Park Activities
With ample shade, a well-maintained tot lot with swings, a paved walking loop and bathrooms, Maxwell Park is a great destination for the stroller set. On a typical morning, kids under five will find plenty of playmates. The mosaic art, little libraries and fresh plantings around the space are a testament to the park’s active community of support in the neighborhood. Reviewers call Maxwell Park a “nice quiet place for the kids to play” with “clean bathrooms” that’s a “lovely spot for a picnic.”
