Located just a few blocks off the busy main thoroughfare of Telegraph Avenue in North Oakland, Colby Park is a cute, cozy neighborhood park tucked in among tidy bungalows. It’s the type of place where toys are left behind for the next kid to use and community members gather in the summer for outdoor movies projected on a sheet. Small and serene, Colby Park is a charming escape.
Park Activities
On a typical afternoon, you’re liable to find more toddlers than adults at Colby Park, attracted by the small play structure, sand pit and patch of shaded lawn that’s just big enough for tag or a game of catch. It’s a combination well-suited for younger kids and families looking for a quiet place to picnic. Reviewers call it “a wonderful gem,” a “little secret park” and a “place for a great Sunday afternoon.”
