After completing a rigorous review process during an open design contest that attracted proposals from as far away as the Philippines, the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation is proud to share a new logo and visual identity with its community of supporters.
“We were so pleased with both the quantity and quality of the proposals we received this spring,” says Interim Executive Director Mandolin Kadera-Redmond. “We think our new logo speaks to the organization’s diverse audience of park advocates, individual and corporate donors, program participants and civic partners.”
The new “Skyline” logo was developed by Andre Cole, a self-taught graphic designer with years of experience creating logos for brands around the world. A specialist in clean, visually-appealing designs, Cole created the Skyline logo concept over the course of several meetings with Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation board and staff members.
“We love the optimism of the finished design, the bright color palette and the diversity of natural environments represented,” comments Development Director Wes Radez. “A refreshed visual identity will help us advance our mission to support parks and recreation programs for everyone in Oakland.”
The Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation accepted more than 20 logo concepts in response to its request for proposals in February 2021. The logo design contest was made possible by a generous grant from The Trust for Public Land.
