YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS
The Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation raises money each year to provide kids equitable access to Oakland Parks, Recreation and Youth Development camps and enrichment programs. We believe that having the benefits of summer camp, after school care and swim lessons shouldn’t come down to a family’s ability to pay.
2021 Highlights
What is your favorite summer camp memory? Many of you tell us about sleeping under the stars, playing with kids from different backgrounds or learning skills like horseback riding that created a new sense of confidence.
During the summer of 2021, Oakland Parks, Recreation and Youth Development’s Town Camp was still about friendships and laughter, social and emotional relief that was especially critical for Oakland kids after a year of remote schooling, isolation from friends and inactivity.
On April 29, 2021, our community raised nearly $100,000 to support Town Camp and Oakland youth at Spring for Parks. In addition to youth scholarships, this total provided funds to create the Town Camp Carnival, a special afternoon of jump houses, water slides, cotton candy machines and field games at Town Camp in August.

More than ever, we did this as a team! We thank the foundation, corporate and individual donors below for recognizing COVID-19’s serious impact on our youngest Oaklanders. Together, we can create a new generation of summer camp memories.
