Beginning in September 2004 with Honoring Lake Merritt’s Birds with her dance, Under The Wing, Patricia “migrated her project” north to Berkeley’s Tilden Park in Wildcat Watershed with a new dance MIGRATING WOMAN WITH BIRD, which was given in August 2005. This April 2006, she returns to Lakeview Public Library, making a full circle return by bringing us her dance from Berkeley to Oakland. Come Join!

Exhibition Migrating Woman With Bird, an improvisational dance created especially for Wildcat Watershed at the Tilden Park Nature Center in Berkeley comes to Lake Merritt Watershed.
Elaborately hand -painted paper dress by Lauren McIntosh in collaborative design with Patricia Bulitt. Dance commemorates SF Bay area shore birds with special attention to our legendary White Pelicans, Helen and Hector, who once lived at Lake Merritt for 29 years, with an original poetic text set your mind and heart a wandering towards birds!

In Sky With Wings: Listening, Sharing and Writing Poetry Workshop Patricia Bulitt, Dancer/Poet

Chris Olander, Guest Poet from Nevada City
Join dancer and poet, Patricia Bulitt with Very Special Guest Poet, Chris Olander for an evening of “bird poetry.” Chris Olander brings his dynamic ‘bird voices” embedded in skillfull lyricism that is all his to our library. Patricia shared her text written especially for Lake Merritt’s birds. A portion of our evening will be in the construction of a collective poem honoring birds directed by Chris and Patricia. You are invited to bring original poetry on theme of birds or bring one to read aloud that stirs your awe.

Fledglings and Fly In -Around Lake Merritt: A Bird Walk with Dancer and Birder!
Time: 4PM (tour departs by 4:10PM)

Location to Meet: Meet Rusty Scalf, Patricia Bulitt, and Marina Garza on the patio behind Lakeview Library, facing Lake Merritt’s Fountain. Bring you binoculars! Wear good walking shoes! FREE
Walk Lake Merritt with Rusty Scalf, Bird Instructor from Albany Adult School as he discusses the particular bird population and identification at our lake joined by “Bird Dancer,” Patricia Bulitt as she improvises dance/ movement on this walking tour to the musical accompaniment of Marina Garza, of the Montclair Women’s Big Band! This program is part of her Migrating Woman With Bird series of dance improvisations. Guest musician will accompany this most unusual duo for a great collaboration to honor birds! Come along for part or all of our spring sauntering around the lake.
